ON AIR sign
You might have noticed the 'ON AIR' sign in my shack. It is just funny little project that can easily be made in a short time and for very little money but it adds something special to your shack.
I got the idea from a YouTube (to be found here), but I agree with some comments that say it is not a good idea switching AC to run a USB power supply to get 5V, as I don't like having AC so close to signal lines, even through a relay.
So I made the following adaptation to the original scheme, in order to switch 5V instead of 220V.

Right is the connection tot the 'ACC' connector of the transceiver: for the ICOM IC-7300 this is pen 8 and 3, but for other transceivers you will have to find them in the corresponding manual.
For the relay I used a cheap double relay from amazon.be: (click here) but it is also available on amazon.com etc. It is a 2-channel 12V relais with opto-coupler isolation so it is much safer than switching the 220 wall outlet!

The airsign itself was also bought from amazon.be: (click here).
I found a little plastic box for the relay for protection.

In the picture below everything is being connected. The USB connector on the left is connected to e.g. a USB wall charger and the connector at the bottem is the ICOM IC-7300 accessories connector.
